The key to enjoying life confidently and passionately is to celebrate the woman you are! You are many things – a mum, a wife, a partner, a friend, a daughter, a work colleague, a PTA member – and you should be proud of all the things you achieve for yourself and your family on a daily basis.
Being a mum is extremely rewarding but it can be exhausting. When you are so busy attending the needs of others, you can often forget about your own needs and quickly become resentful and under valued. It is important, therefore, to ensure you value yourself, your time and your qualities – doing this will ensure you make the most out of every experience in life. (more…)

Finding time to spend quality time with your partner is an essential part of any relationship. Understanding each other’s needs and sharing time alone together will strengthen your relationship. Empowering Mums offers you some great ways to find time to spend with your partner and offers tips to keep vital lines of communication open.
Make Time For Each Other
Life as a busy or working mum is very hectic. Between general chores, raising the children, running the household, looking after extended family members such as elderly parents and seeing friends, your partner can quite often be overlooked. It is all too common to allow time to slip by without ever addressing each other’s needs.
Finding time to spend alone together can be challenging. A word of advice here is not to class time spent with the children, dining out with friends or spending a day catching up on chores as ‘quality partner time’. Ensure you make time to be alone together. (more…)

As Big Ben chimes in the New Year, many of us will be making resolutions in the hope they will change our lives for the better. So how can we make certain that such aspirations will be achievable and enable us to live life according to our own set of needs, desires and values?
Effective goal setting is the key. The first and often hardest step is to identify realistic goals that you believe will change your life for the better. A tip here is to consider all the life-long aspirations you have held but never pursued due to lack of time, self-confidence or both.
How realistic are your aspirations? Do you believe you can achieve these objectives alongside all your other day-to-day duties, such as working, running a busy household and spending quality time with your family? (more…)

2009 has brought some real challenges for families across the UK. The credit crisis has resulted in a huge number of redundancies and many of us are working hard at ‘tightening our belts’. With the summer holidays on the horizon, the Mediterranean sun may have already set for many of us.
But fear not! It really isn’t all doom and gloom! It is possible to enjoy maximum family fun this year without even leaving the comfort of your own home. An At Home Holiday will not only save you money but it can be far more relaxing than a traditional break. The benefits of staying at home this year will leave you feeling relaxed and recharged almost from the outset: with no packing or travel, your time will be freed up for maximum fun! (more…)

Have you ever observed your single, child-less friends? From a brief glance, you’ll notice they splurge happily on the latest trends; they can often be found working out at the gym or stretching at a weekly Pilates class; and they have time to relax over a glass of Chablis with colleagues. Delve deeper and you’ll find painfully high stilettos, a fabulous little black dress and matching lacy underwear all ready for that just-in-case, last minute night out with the girls.
Contrast this with your life. As a busy mum, you’re no doubt wearing Marks & Spencer’s safest white knickers under your uniform of jeans and a sweater, which probably has a slimy trail on the sleeve left by your child. Your last night out was to the school PTA meeting and, if you were lucky on Saturday evening, you may have sipped the best tipple your corner shop had to offer. The most fun you had with the bed sheets was when your partner offered to make the bed for you! (more…)
