How Getting Clear On What You ‘Really’ Want & More Importantly ‘Why’ You Want It Is The Key To Making It Happen In 2018

Monday, January 22nd, 2018

How is 2018 treating you so far? Did you know that last Monday was ‘Blue Monday’? Apparently the day of the year when people are at their most sad, all the excitement of Christmas over and not much to look forward to. Apparently being back in work and Summer being a good few months away is enough reason to want to forget the New Year altogether and hibernate.

Well, this may be the case for some people, where I come from we don’t need a holiday company making up days and telling us when to feel happy of sad. That said it is worth noting that Blue Monday is indeed the week before it is predicted most of us fall off the wagon and give up on our New Year Resolutions. Maybe there is something to think about when it comes to staying on track or achieving our goals. I want to touch on the topic of goals or desired outcomes. Usually, we make a goal or commitment based on what we desire as an outcome that we believe we are able to control. These targets are also ones we (usually) think are achievable. If this is the case, why do so many of use not achieve our goals or resolutions? Well there are a few reasons. The first being a lack of clarity on what we really desire.

Getting Your 2018 Off To The Right Start

Monday, January 8th, 2018

If you missed January Empower and last week’s blog, first and foremost I’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year, with greater confidence, balance and clarity for the year ahead.

How has the first week of 2018 treated you so far? Can you believe we’re already a week into 2018?

I do hope you’re well and have had an enjoyable festive period with your families and loved ones. I’ve heard from many clients, colleagues and friends that have unfortunately been afflicted with all sorts of bugs over Christmas, including quite a few with full-blown flu. If this was you, I hope you’re now fighting fit or at least well on your way back to health and ready to embrace all that 2018 has to offer!

Happy New Year!

Today is a special day for numerous reasons, the start of a new year, a chance to start with a clean slate and Empower, our monthly newsletter has been published for the 100th time. Today our 100th Anniversary edition was sent out and we thought a celebration was called for. When this journey started, the newsletter was sent out quarterly but has been of benefit to our Empower community of mums and mumpreneurs for nine years, providing advice, inspiration and support helping them overcome the daily challenges mums face.

For all the advice and support we have shared over the years the biggest testimony to us reaching this milestone is you! We couldn’t have done it without your support, engagement or feedback over the past nine years.

What Goals Are Still Outstanding For You? What Can You Do To Ensure your success?

Monday, November 27th, 2017

With December fast approaching it’s the perfect time to reflect on the year so far. I imagine that  you’ve achieved many of the things you set out to do and possibly some things that you didn’t set out to. Congratulations!  You have made it this far. It is quite likely you didn’t achieve everything you wanted to this year but we aren’t as the end of the year just yet so there is still time.

Even the most committed of us are likely to take out eye off the proverbial ball at some point or encounter challenges that completely throw us off track. You’re not going to achieve everything you plan to do, whilst you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, you don’t hit 100% of them either. Instead of being discouraged by these shortcomings, realise that they’re an opportunity to improve. Each shortcoming is a learning experience, be grateful for them – they’re a chance to become better.

Success: What Does it Mean To You and What Will You Do To Get It?

Monday, October 9th, 2017

This month’s newsletter talked about celebrating how far we have come since the start of 2017. Taking the time to review and celebrate your milestones, no matter how small, is a great way of staying motivated and on track even when progress isn’t being made as fast as you’d like it to.

Looking back on where you were at the start of your journey is always a greater indication of success than where we find ourselves at any given time. It has been said that the true measure of success isn’t where we end up but how far we’ve come. Many agree that the journey and the process of progress and growth is of more concern than the final destination. Do you agree?

Small Changes Equal Big Impact

Monday, September 25th, 2017

In my last blog I asked how focusing on your personal goals and aspirations had been going. I explained the importance of making sure goals are in alignment with your core values to ensure greater success.

No matter what they are, incorporating small changes into your day to day life can be a challenge. Not least because we are creatures of habit and habits can be difficult to break. Rather than trying to change or incorporate everything at once, the best way to make effective long lasting changes is to begin to introduce small changes one by one.

September; The New January: New Year, Fresh Start!

Monday, September 11th, 2017

In this month’s newsletter we talked about new beginnings for us and our families at the start of the new academic year.  I explained the importance of taking time to focus on those goals and aspirations that may have been kept on a back burner for some time. Where January has traditionally been the month for fresh starts, many of the experts agree that September can be an equally good time to start over.

A week or so into the new school term, have you had any success with making time to focus on what you want? It’s ok if you haven’t, you may be waiting for things to settle with the children until you make some plans towards making 2017 your best year to date.

What Do You Really Value & Why?

Monday, May 29th, 2017

In the last blog we looked at self worth and and how it relate to the value we place on ourselves. Following on from that, we’ll explore values, how we determine what’s important to us and why.

If we were asked the question – What are your top 10 values? We would probably answer in different ways. Based on our life experiences and priorities, our value system is as individual as we are – but what exactly are values?

Making Changes To Achieve Your Goals

Monday, February 27th, 2017

My last blog covered gaining clarity from January reflection in order to stay on track with our goals. I highlighted the importance of taking a three-step approach to getting clarity around our goals to make it easier to successfully achieve what we set out to. (more…)

Gaining Clarity From January Reflection

Monday, February 13th, 2017

This month’s newsletter covered resolutions and the fact that most are broken by 15th January every year due to a lack of willpower but perhaps more likely a lack of planning for success. Often the changes we want to make require a huge shift and it’s always easier to fall back into old habits than make new ones.
