Small Changes Equal Big Impact

Monday, September 25th, 2017

In my last blog I asked how focusing on your personal goals and aspirations had been going. I explained the importance of making sure goals are in alignment with your core values to ensure greater success.

No matter what they are, incorporating small changes into your day to day life can be a challenge. Not least because we are creatures of habit and habits can be difficult to break. Rather than trying to change or incorporate everything at once, the best way to make effective long lasting changes is to begin to introduce small changes one by one.

Let’s use an example of a change that most of us tend to struggle with: exercise. We make the decision that we want to get healthy, to feel and look better and even have more energy. We know that exercise is one of the best ways to get the results we want which, are own line with our core value of health/vitality. We know that without good health we will struggle to achieve much else.

What usually tends to happen is we get excited about this news change we’re about to make and throw ourselves into a new health and fitness routine, committing to exercising for 40 minutes every day, and eating salads and banning all snacks. Within a week many of us will have fallen of the wagon. Why? because we tried to change to much at the same times. The secret to change that sticks is to make it incremental, changing one thing at a time, embedding the habit before
moving on to the next one.

This gentle approach can work for any set of changes you’d like to introduce into your life from changing eating habits to making more time for self care or study.

Congratulations if you have begun to work on you personal goals and are already seeing results. You should give yourself a pat on the back. I’d love for you to share what changes you’ve made since the beginning of the month. If you haven’t  started to make the changes you planned remember – small changes applied consistently gets results.

It’s never too late to get started.

September; The New January: New Year, Fresh Start!

Monday, September 11th, 2017

In this month’s newsletter we talked about new beginnings for us and our families at the start of the new academic year.  I explained the importance of taking time to focus on those goals and aspirations that may have been kept on a back burner for some time. Where January has traditionally been the month for fresh starts, many of the experts agree that September can be an equally good time to start over.

A week or so into the new school term, have you had any success with making time to focus on what you want? It’s ok if you haven’t, you may be waiting for things to settle with the children until you make some plans towards making 2017 your best year to date.

Gaining Clarity From January Reflection

Monday, February 13th, 2017

This month’s newsletter covered resolutions and the fact that most are broken by 15th January every year due to a lack of willpower but perhaps more likely a lack of planning for success. Learning To Believe In Yourself

Monday, November 14th, 2016

At one point or another in our lives, we all question whether or not we are good enough, capable enough, skilled enough, rich enough and successful enough! Sometimes these feelings can become overwhelming, which is when self-doubt really takes hold and begins to negatively impact on your actions and ability to enjoy a happy life.
